Darius Rucker - It Won't Be Like This For Long

The other night we were driving home and this song came on the radio.  It brought tears to my eyes.  We have 3 amazing teenage boys so I know 1st hand how fast it really goes.  I swear we just brought our 1st son home is he now NINETEEN and in college.  I think this really hit home that night because of the itty bitty baby girl riding in the back seat.  You see she way never in our "plans" but we are currently in the mist of adopting that sweet little thing.  I've really been struggling lately with how slow this whole process is going.  I am quite impatient and want her to be officially ours like yesterday.  But this song reminded me of something very important....  In the long term these last 9 months won't seem like that big of a deal, because if all goes as planned she will be ours FOREVER.

Family Photos

Every year about this time we load up the boys, threaten them to behave HA! no really and do a little family photo session.  This year was pretty easy compared to others.  Just need to get Christopher (16) to smile more, he looks like he's being tortured.  Here is a few of my favorite.

How can they already be this big?

Happy Thanksgiving 2012

This has really been a amazing year for our family.  We are blessed beyond measure.  I am so fortunate to be married to my best friend and love of my life.  3 handsome, amazing and smart boys. I've got the best group of girlfriends who are more like family then I can even believe.  I have a sweet supportive family who even though we are all miles and miles away I know how much they love me.
I have a great job that I look forward to coming to every day.

What are you thankful for?  We are hosting this year with just a few family members.  I love hosting, getting the house all ready and all the cooking.  I sure hope the boys get there "to do" list done while I'm at work today.

Here is our Menu...
Cranberry Sauce
Mashed Potatoes. I'm going to make them like a twice baked potato with sour cream, cheese, onion and bacon.  I will add little more cheese on top and pop them in the oven until cheese is melty.  Hope they turn out...sounds good in my head!
Sweet Potato Casserole
I feel like I need another side dish but haven't decided what yet.

I will have a couple snack foods for before lunch.  I'm making Jalapeno Popper Dip and Cranberry Salsa served over cream cheese, I could honestly eat the whole plate of cranberry dip.

We can not forget Dessert...... I'm making
Chocolate Pie
Cinnamon Rolls
Pumpkin Roll (made by my sweet friend Karey)

I'm going to prepare most of this tonight so I can enjoy tomorrow.  I can't wait to get up early go get the newspaper and make my plan for black friday shopping

What's your holiday tradition??

November really?

I step out side today at work and was plesantly suprised at the almost 60 degree weather.  Made me want to grab my running shoes.  HA!!! No really I did have that thought but I really doubt it will actually happen.  I mean it will be dark and all by the time I get home and I cook dinner.  Then again I do have a treadmill.  I so need to get back on the "exercise" kick I was on this summer and early fall.  Any good tips to staying with it??

Back to School

Today was the 1st day for the boys.

My youngest is now a 5th grader.  He broke my heart a little this morning.  Didn't want me to walk him in so I just dropped him off at the front door.  This was a first for me.

7th grade Jr high
He was so excited/nervous.  I heard him asking his big brother questions about certain teachers and changing classes.  Can't wait to hear how it went.

Sophomore year
Realized on my drive to the school that this will be the last time I ever drive this kiddo to his 1st day of school.  WOW how the heck?  I pointed this out to him and he smiled.  He will be driving in less than 2 weeks.
So excited to see what this school year brings.

Getting there

Today was my run day.  I just completed week 6 of C25K. Today was 2.25 miles all running.  I did it.  There were times when I thought "why am I here" but what counts is I did it, again.  I thought of excuses to not go and do it tonight.  Wouldn't happen trust me I knew.  So I grabbed my running shoes and did it.  Amazing how good you feel once it's done and checked off that to do list.  The next 2 weeks are all running.  I feel good about it, I know I can do this.   I rewarded myself with a yummy post run treat.  Skim milk and sugar free syrup, man was it yummy

This week...

Menu time again.  Here is what we will be eating at the house this week...

Monday- French Dip Sandwiches with Mac and Cheese.
I had a baked potato.

Tuesday- Spaghetti and Meatballs, garlic bread and salad.  Open house tonight so has to be quick.  Made the meatballs this am and they are in the crock pot.  Just have to cook noodles when I get home.

Wednesday- FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL.  Homemade pizza.  I use a whole wheat crust that I will make in the morning before I head to work.

Thursday- Grilled BBQ Chicken, brown beans, salad and cornbread

Friday- Pioneer Woman's Patty Melts with chips and salsa.  I will skinny it up a bit with low fat cheese and whole wheat bread. oh and I won't use butter just PAM.

Saturday- Steak, Potatoes, green beans and wheat rolls.

Now to go get groceries!

Also the boys will be having Biscuits and gravy, sausage and eggs for there back to school breakfast.

Can hardly believe the summer is gone.
